The Plugged In Show, Episode 69: And the Nominees Are …

LISTEN TO THE PLUGGED IN SHOW, EPISODE 69

It’s that time of year: awards season. And when it comes to the entertainment industry’s many ceremonies that hand out recognition, none are bigger than the Academy Awards. And no individual Oscar category is as prestigious as the Best Picture category.

This week, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled its slate of nominees for the 93rd Annual Academy Awards. These nominees have the dubious honor of arriving in the midst of a global pandemic. More so than some years, the nominees for Best Picture this year is even artier and indy-ier than ever.

This week on The Plugged In Show, we’ll talk about a couple of Best Picture nominees in particular that might have some appeal for families. We’ll also discuss some surprisingly spiritual common ground in the movies nominated for Best Animated Feature. And we’ll unpack how movies based on historical events perhaps shape how we see those events in the rearview mirror.
