The Plugged In Show, Episode 57: Plugged In’s Christmas Movie Extravaganza!

LISTEN TO THE PLUGGED IN SHOW, EPISODE 57

Christmas movies.

You like ‘em. I like ‘em. We all watch ‘em.

And if you don’t, well, you’re a Scrooge or a Grinch. See, there’s no escaping here: You will be assimilated.

Now, that said, not all Christmas movies are created equal. We certainly know that, too. And not all Christmas movies are even the same. You’ve got Christmas movies, such as The Nativity Story and The Star. And then you’ve got myriad movies about Santa Claus et al., such as The Christmas Chronicles 2. And then you’ve got movies that just happen to take place around Christmas, and thusly get qualified and quantified as such. Like, say, Home Alone. There are even Christmas horror movies (Krampus) and action movies (Die Hard), for heaven’s sake!

Movies celebrating the season are hardly a new thing. Indeed, classics such as A Miracle on 34th Street and It’s a Wonderful Life were around decades before many of us were even born. Yet they, too, contribute to our rich, shared Christmas-movie heritage.

Obviously, this is a topic that’s rife with discussion possibilities. Which is exactly why The Plugged In Show tackled it for our Christmas Eve episode this year. (Though don’t expect much conversation about Die Hard or Krampus.)

So sit back, and take a listen. Check out our links to Christmas movies below. And, mostly importantly, let us know what you think are the best Christmas movies of all time. We look forward to hearing from you.

And, of course, Merry Christmas from all of us here at Plugged In.

  1. -Our favorite Christmas movie never seems to get mentioned at all! I don’t think its streaming anywhere. I bought the DVD a few years ago. “The worst/best Christmas pageant ever”. It is such a great movie…based on a book by the same title.

  2. -We are so thankful for your ministry! Every year we read the Best/Worst Christmas Pageant Ever as well! It is one of my favourite books at Christmas and I had no idea it was made into a movie.
