LISTEN TO THE PLUGGED IN SHOW, EPISODE 128
Ever feel alone? Well, have no fear. According to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you’re not. In fact, there’s another you out there, somewhere. Probably several. In another universe, perhaps you’re reading this very blog. Or perhaps you’re writing it. Or perhaps you, like Doctor Strange, have no time to read blogs because you’re out trying to save the multiverse.
That’s what Doctor Strange is up to, of course, in his latest movie (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). He’s as familiar with it as anyone, given his track record. But should you see the movie in this universe? Well, we’ll be talking about that very thing on this episode of The Plugged In Show.
And once we’re through unpacking the pic’s particulars, we’ll dive into a broader conversation about the multiverse itself. After all, it’s not just Marvel that’s dabbling in these crazy, multi-universal stories. They’re the narrative flavor of the day that we’re finding in everything from critics-darling indie movies to animated TV shows. Believe it or not, these sorts of stories come with some theological implications, too.
And then, of course, we’ll engage in another round of Pop Culture Connection.
So join us, will you? Let’s engage in this literally Strange conversation. And as always, chime in with your own thoughts on Facebook and Instagram. Or ship us an email at [email protected]. We promise we won’t be mad.

-Well, I’m done with superhero movies for good. And let me be upfront: I’m NOT the sort of person to see a film ONLY because it’s an MCU film. Some good reviews might help. I wasn’t really planning on seeing “Multiverse of Madness,” but when a good friend who IS an MCU fan said, “Let’s go see it,” I thought “Oh what the heck.” It’s polling at 75% “Fresh” among critics, and 88% among audiences. But an hour into the film I started looking at my wristwatch, and then I was looking at my wristwatch again and again. Between the CGI overload and an incomprehensible plot, I frankly found myself getting BORED.
-Love the podcast! But I really enjoyed the culture countdown you used to end with more than the Q&A you do now. I learned a lot from the different short stories in culture countdown and you already start the show with a fun interaction of ice breakers, so please bring culture countdown back.
-No promises, but we appreciate the feedback, Dustan. Blessings!
-To me, once you throw in different versions of the same character what is the point of caring about the original character? If the original dies you know there is another one to care about and another and another. Where’s the other version of Tony Stark?
P.S. I didn’t see Multiverse of Madness didn’t care to either.
