YouTube Channel Review

Meet the ACE Family. This family of five  consists of 28-year-old husband and former NCAA basketball guard, Austin McBroom; his 30-year-old wife and fitness model, Catherine Paiz; their two daughters, Elle and Alaïa; and their son, Steel.

Austin and Catherine began their YouTube channel as boyfriend and girlfriend back in 2016. Their videos started as pranks, but over time the couple began varying their content. Now, Austin and Catherine are married with three children. They focus on vlogging their everyday lives. And they’ve ammassed millions of follwers with content ranging from vlogs and challenges to personalized apps and merchandise.

Onscreen, they’re portrayed as real, vulnerable and funny, the sort of couple many think of as picture perfect. That said, the family has had to deal with a lot of controversy. Allegations of sexual assault, misconduct and innapropriate behavior have been leveled against Austin. The couple is also embroiled in a legal battle in which they’re suing someone for extortion. More obvious for anyone watching the channel are problems with some of the content, too, including profanity and mature subjects.

Positive Content

Both Austin and Catherine seem to love their children well and love one another well. They are generous with one another, kind, respectful and funny. They seem to genuinely love spending time together and doting on their family members.

In one video, Austin promises his young daughter that he will always be there for her to love and protect her. In another video, we witness the moment he proposed to Catherine.

Austin tells his father-in-law that children are gifts from God, a sentiment his father-in-law agrees with.

Content Concerns

Austin and Catherine both use a fair bit of profanity, including f- and s-words, as well as milder vulgarities. God’s name is misused at times, and it’s occasionally paired with “d–n” or “d–mit.”

In one of the videos I watched for this review, Austin agrees to a challenge in which he’s hooked up to a machine that induces labor. He swears quite a bit, and both he and Catherine get annoyed with each another.

Some videos feature the couple playing pranks on people that many parents wouldn’t appreciate. Catherine and Austin perform a few sexualized dances and kiss often. Some of Catherine’s outfits can be pretty revealing.

Channel Summary

These extremely popular YouTubers make some content that’s funny and engaging. At times, we see how devoted they are to their kids, too.

But just because “family” is in the channel’s name doesn’t mean that everything here is “friendly.” Because, well, it’s not. Harsh profanity turns up regularly, and parents won’t want their kids emulating many of the pranks and behaviors that turn up on this channel, either.
