LISTEN TO THE PLUGGED IN SHOW, EPISODE 121
When I was growing up, board games in my family could move from “fun” to “full-contact sport.” Risk could be particularly (ahem) dicey. Sometimes, kids and/or parents would need to take a walk around the block after a particularly unfair attack on Kamchatka.
I’ve learned since then that board and card games don’t have to end in tears. Many can be quite fun! And, of course, when they are fun, games can be a great way to bring your family together for an evening, too.
While we normally talk about screen-based entertainment on The Plugged In Show, this time we’re going old school to talk about how and why board and card games can be a cutting-edge way to bond with kids and teens, moms and dads. (And if you’re looking for specific games for your family, check out some recommendations from our Plugged In analog game expert, Kennedy Unthank, here and here.)
Speaking of games, our video game expert Bob Hoose has played through a couple of new ones from a pair of tried-and-true gaming franchises. He’ll tell you all about the latest chapters in the Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon gaming worlds, and we’ll help you decide whether the installments might be right for you and your family.
So, please. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Instead, head to your favorite listening device and join our conversation. And once you’re through, let us know what you thought about our conversation on Facebook, Instagram or via plain ol’ email (at [email protected]).
