If you ever get tired of a beautiful day in the neighborhood (though I doubt you would), you can always stroll on over to Someplace Else, where Donkey Hodie lives.
Along with her friends, Purple Panda, Duck Duck and Bob Dog, Donkey Hodie learns the value of hard work and perseverance. She discovers that it’s OK to make mistakes and that there are lessons to learn from them. And she tries her hardest to treat everyone she meets with kindness and fairness.
This PBS Kids spinoff of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood is aimed at preschoolers, teaching them social-emotional skills important for their development.
There’s the occasional mention of magic, but only in make-believe or stories. And since the show seems void of virtually any other content concerns, it’s a hee-hawesome win for families.

Donkey Hodie prepares for a big party with a special guest. Then, Donkey wonders if her pet fish is magical.
Donkey and Panda have difficulty understanding a new friend who communicates through a bell. But they persevere, eventually learning what the friend is saying. And they ultimately celebrate their unique communication styles.
After reading a story about a fish that grants wishes, Donkey makes a wish on her own fish, and she’s shocked when it comes true. (Viewers are able to see that it wasn’t magic, just coincidence.) She makes more wishes, asking for the ability to perform a baton trick and play a strange instrument. When the wishes don’t immediately come true, Panda advises Donkey to keep practicing. When Donkey masters the new skills, Panda helps her to understand that it was practice, not magic that gave her the abilities.
Emily studied film and writing when she was in college. And when she isn’t being way too competitive while playing board games, she enjoys food, sleep, and geeking out with her husband indulging in their “nerdoms,” which is the collective fan cultures of everything they love, such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate and Lord of the Rings.
