So while How to Train Your Dragon 2 is every bit as entertaining and engaging as its predecessor, it’s traded some of the whimsical, childlike wonder for a more nuanced examination of good and evil.

What’s Zathura? If you’re playing the game, it’s the place you land on to win. But really it’s the place brothers end up at after they finally stop bickering.

It’s once again wine, women and song for the Prodigal Son. But this guy adds hot stock from a video game company and hip modern-day threads to the mix.
Million Dollar Arm
At least the flick does eventually find its way ’round all the right bases. It crosses home plate with a long-ball message of scorning lust and lucre for family and friendship.
Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return
This pic looks much more like a direct-to-DVD tyke trifle than anything approaching feature film fare. But it’s still a little emerald bauble that deserves a second look from moms and dads.
Moms’ Night Out
In fact, this pic works so well that I’ve got a feeling Moms’ Night Out will make many a real-world date night or girls’ getaway into a chuckle-worthy time.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
More so here than in the first film, our hero is a fellow we can cheer. A guy who’s settled into being … good.
Belle
Belle’s main focus isn’t really romance at all. Instead, Dido and John’s risky commitment to combating slavery makes this story more akin to the 2007 film Amazing Grace.
Spirited Away
Equal parts visual masterpiece, nightmare-inducing fable and slickly packaged animism.
Heaven Is for Real
The result is a faith-oriented and family-friendly film that will both inspire and vex—much like Colton’s stories affect his own father.
