The Plugged In Show, Episode 182: Summer Movie Preview! (Plus, Fast X)

LISTEN TO THE PLUGGED IN SHOW, EPISODE 182

A confession: When I read the title Fast X, I think it sounds a little like some sort of mass-market digestive cure-all. (“Heartburn? Indigestion? Feel better fast with Fast X!”)

I am sure I am the only one who thinks such a thing. The rest of the world knows that it’s the latest chapter in the long-running Fast & Furious franchise—and perhaps the most noticeable harbinger of summer this side of sunscreen sales.

Summertime is movie time, of course. And while the calendar may tell us we’ve still got a month to go before summer officially hits, Hollywood’s own hottest season is now well under way. The Marvel Cinematic Universe kicked off summer (as it often does) with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. But now, with the debut of Fast X, practically every week from here ‘til late August features a potential blockbuster.

This week, our team of cinematic experts combs through the summer movie season to tell you what’s buzzy, what we’re excited (or nervous) about and what parents might expect from Hollywood’s warm-weather slate.

And then we take a deeper dive into Fast X, one of the summer’s most anticipated films. Adam Holz and I talk about not only the movie, but the Fast & Furious franchise as a whole. Because, as it turns out, it’s not all about fast cars and furious explosions.

Once you hear what we have to say, chime in with your own thoughts. Let us know on Facebook, Instagram or via email at [email protected]. You can leave us a voice message, too. Just go to The Plugged In Show’s new landing page, look for the sideways black tab on the far right.

And if you want to hear members of the Plugged In team talk more, follow us on Instagram (@pluggedinteam) to get notifications for our new feature, The Plugged In Show Aftercast. Each Monday at 3 p.m. Mountain Time, we’ll talk about the weekend’s box office results, as well as answering your comments about last week’s Plugged In Show and previewing the next one. And who knows? Since the whole thing is completely off the cuff, you never know what else we’ll talk about.

So pour yourself an iced tea, slap on some sunglasses and join us, won’t you?
