The Plugged In Show, Episode 115: The Winter of our … Content, and Belle!

LISTEN TO THE PLUGGED IN SHOW, EPISODE 115

Plugged In movie reviews are a bit different from other film reviews you’ll find. Sure, we’ll give you a sense of the story. And we may talk just a bit about how effective that story was. But when other movie reviews pack it in and call it a day, we’re really just getting started with ours.

That’s because the main purpose of a Plugged In review is to give a sense of what to expect, content- and worldview-wise, in a whole bunch of different areas. So we observe and parse and detail everything we see in terms of positive and spiritual themes; sex, violence and profanity; drug usage and other negative issues. That’s all in the name of giving you and your family as much information as possible to make a good decision about a film as well as equipping you to talk through the issues that might pop up if you say yes.

And if you’ve ever wondered why or how we capture details in these areas the way we do, we’d love to tell you a bit more about that. So in this week’s show, we’re talking about the unique challenges involved with the first three content sections in our reviews: positive elements, spiritual elements and sexual content. (And we’ll be doing something similar with the other sections in coming weeks.)

In addition, Plugged In reviewer Bob Hoose has some great insights on a Japanese anime movie called Belle that has a lot of things going for it.

You won’t want to miss this week’s conversation. And if you want to go deeper with any of the things we talk about this week, be sure to check out our links below. We’d also love to hear what you think, too. So let us know on Facebook and Instagram. (Or you can send us an email at [email protected]).
