Album Review

Summer is nearly over, and yet some songs make you think otherwise. Sort of like the infectious single, “Sunroof,” by California native Nicky Youre, Los Angeles producer dazy and award-winning country artist Thomas Rhett.

This track is like listening to the epitome of summer wrapped in a blanket of dance pop. It’s a simple combination of sun-soaked fun and the feeling you get when you meet someone you just can’t get out of your mind.

POSITIVE CONTENT

Youre and Rhett sing of whoever it is they just can’t get out of their heads. This person makes them feel refreshed (“Feels like a never-ending summer with you/And surfing after winter in the middle of June”) and carefree in the best way (“I got my head out the sunroof/I’m blasting our favorite tunes/I’ve only got one thing in the back of my mind”).

CONTENT CONCERNS

None.

TRACK SUMMARY

This earworm was originally released back in December of 2021, but it has risen to popularity with the vocal influence of country superstar Thomas Rhett.

In an interview, Youre said of his single, “I wanted to make a song that captured the feeling of excitement you get when you meet someone that you can’t stop thinking about…When I meet someone like this, the thought of them is like an itch in my brain that I can’t scratch. So I wanted the song to be catchy so it sticks in your head …”

It does just that. This song could easily get stuck in your head while, nicely, not promoting any messages that you wouldn’t want to be there.
