Album Review

Assertion: Jason Derulo speaks the language of love.

Translation: He’ll have sex with any hot girl he can find, and it doesn’t matter what language she knows. For Derulo, the border-blurring lingo of lust transcends all communication barriers.

“Been around the world,” Jason brags in the chorus, as his faux-reggae accent struts around trumpet lines that sound vaguely Moroccan. “Don’t speak the language/But your booty don’t need explaining/All I really need to understand is/When you talk dirty to me/ … Get jazzy on me.”

And the double entendres just keep coming: “I’m that flight you get on, international/First class seat on my lap, girl, riding comfortable/’Cause I know what the girl them need, New York to Haiti/I got lipstick stains on my passport, you make it hard to leave.”

A bit later, he says he’ll party with foreign girls one, two or even three at a time if they’re game. “Uno, met a friend in Rio/Dos, she was all on me-o/Tres, we could ménage à three-o.” And guest contributor 2 Chainz chimes in with graphic lines that … well, let’s just say include the words “penis,” “p‑‑‑y” and “oral sex.” He wraps up his rap with, “Got her saved in my phone under ‘Big Booty’/Anyway, every day I’m trying to get to it.”

Then Jason just keeps on demanding, “Talk dirty to me.”

In the video, Derulo and 2 Chainz dance, sing and rap their way through shots of scantily clad (foreign) women twerking, hip thrusting and undulating suggestively for the guys’ smirking pleasure. It’s all really nothing more than another leering excuse for an R&B song to cozy up to a creepy, objectifying, strip-club vibe while exalting casual, consequence-free sex featuring dominant, powerful men who use, abuse and discard all-too-willing women.
