Album Review

Bebe Rexha and David Guetta’s hit is instantly recognizable—even for people who might be hearing the song for the first time.

The song incorporates many parts of Eiffel 65’s 1998 hit song “Blue (Da Ba Dee),” and Guetta first played “I’m Good (Blue)” in 2017. It was recorded, performed and remixed for years before it went viral on TikTok. Then, Rexha later re-recorded her vocals for the track before it was released as a single.

The lyrics are easy to remember and repetitive, with the same party-like energy and message as “Good Feeling” by Flo Rida and “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas.

POSITIVE CONTENT

This song has a fun beat for dancing, which made it a sensation on the internet.

The main theme of the song is lighthearted, and the speaker describes a night when they are “feelin’ alright.”

CONTENT CONCERNS

The explicit version of the song uses the f-word repeatedly in the chorus. The clean version replaces the vulgar phrase with “best freakin’ night of my life.” However, the Tik Tok videos are usually not using the clean version, so the song will most likely call to mind the explicit version instantly for most young people.

In the official music video, several scantily clad women, including Rexha, dance and spend time next to a pool.

TRACK SUMMARY

Rexha and Guetta’s single is energetic and memorable. However, the unnecessary use of strong language in the explicit version requires a high level of caution for Christian families.
