Book Review

Frog and Toad All Year by Arnold Lobel is part of the “Frog and Toad” series.

Plot Summary

Frog takes his reluctant best friend, Toad, sledding on a winter day. Toad enjoys himself until he realizes Frog is no longer aboard the speeding sled.

On a rainy day, the friends sip tea as Frog tells about a time he went searching for spring. In the summer, Toad gets ice cream cones for himself and his friend. On the way to Frog’s, the ice cream melts all over toad. Forest creatures flee, thinking Toad is a monster.

When October comes, each friend decides to surprise the other by raking his leaves. The wind blows both piles back over their yards. December comes, and Toad waits for Frog to arrive at his house for their Christmas celebration. When Frog doesn’t show up, Toad worries about all the things that might have happened to his friend. Frog finally gets there a little late because he was wrapping Toad’s present.
