Book Review

Is your phone the first thing you reach for in the morning, and the last thing you put down at night? If so, this book offers 10 practical steps to help you spend less time on your phone and more time on the things you love.

Plot Summary

Kids in our society are getting their own phone at a younger and younger ages. But truthfully, almost everyone tends to struggle to manage their devices, no matter their age.

Studies have shown that the average teenager spends about 7.5 hours on their phone each day, and tweens age 8 to 12 spend about 4.5 hours.

That overuse tends to lead to a lack of sleep, feelings of anxiety and a number of other common problems. Even more importantly, excessive phone use can be harmful to young developing brains.

This book helps young phone users evaluate their “relationship” with their phone. Among other things, it addresses teens learning how to understand their own emotions; discovering the effects that modern phones have on their brain and body; figuring out how to build new good phone habits to replace old bad ones; getting family and friends involved in stronger offline interactions and figuring out how to consistently get a great night’s sleep.

While designed for younger readers, the book is packed with practical tips that everyone can apply.
