A Talk With Tim Tebow About His New Christian Movie, Run the Race

Last week, I had the chance to go to Los Angeles and meet with the makers of Run the Race, a Christian movie about two athletic brothers and produced, in part, by football-baseball-celebrity Tim Tebow. It was my first trip like this for Plugged In, and I wanted to share it with you. So let me tell you what I did.

Meeting Tim Tebow…
I met Tim Tebow. That’s right. Good ole’ Timmy T. But before I formally met him and asked for a selfie (yes, very millennial, I know), I interviewed the cast and crew of Run the Race—Tebow’s first film as Executive Producer.

At first, I didn’t know what I was more excited about. Eight hours of sleep without interruption from my 18 month-old child? Room Service? Alone time? It all sounded glorious. But once I sat down with the film’s multitude of talent, everything else lost its luster.  The “behind-the-scenes feel” had my full attention.

On the Set of His First Film
Run the Race is set in the little run-down town of Bessemer, Florida. The film focuses on two brothers, Dave and Zach Truett, and the difficult circumstances they’ve weathered together. Both brothers want to get away from their alcoholic father and the memories of their beloved mother. Zach’s plan is to snag a football scholarship that will take he and Dave far away from their past. But when Zach gets seriously injured, Dave comes up with a new plan—to help point his brother toward hope.

The Weight of the World. The Love of a Brother
Christian moviemakers have already made plenty of films about football, and you might be wondering whether another one’s really needed. But this one is different. It focuses more on the relationship between two brothers and their journey of faith than their time on the field. And it has a pretty big twist that you don’t find in most faith-based films. The film includes hard questions, difficult moments, honest conversations and plenty of hope.

But instead of hearing any more from me, I’ll turn the mic over to Tim Tebow and his brother, Robby:
