As we mentioned yesterday, The Super Mario Galaxy Moviegot off to a super-great start, earning more than $372 million worldwide in its first five days of work.
It didn’t shock us that Mario and Co. won the weekend’s box office title, of course. We figured that would happen. But we were pleasantly surprised that the film was so good. Our reviewer, Bob Hoose, loved the film—and if you’ve watched us on YouTube, you know that Hoose doesn’t always like the films he reviews.
Well, we have a discussion of an altogether different sort today about The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. And we bat around whether movies based on video games are just getting better—or whether this was a welcome exception to the rule.
Then we turn the conversation over to Kennedy Unthank, who interviewed Joshua Enck, the writer and director of Sight & Sound’s new Christian film, A Great Awakening. I think you’ll find it a super-interesting conversation.
