Let’s admit the truth, we parents kinda see ourselves as superheroes. And rightfully so. Who else can pick up a room full of blocks, mop up a table drenched with spilt juice and wipe a runny nose, all with the single-bound grace of a ninja leaping from a darkened rooftop to shadowed ledge? That’s why moms spend years learning scoop-and-fold techniques from the far East and dads practice rigorously to get that gravelly tone of command just right. We all know the value of such skills in the family room.
And that likely is also why BatDad and his series of six-second Vine videos is so popular.
For those of you not familiar with BatDad, let me introduce you. On Batvideo, anyway. A guy with four kids, Blake Wilson was once just an average 29-year-old. Then this cameraphone-packing papa from Roswell, Ga., reportedly spotted a simple Batman mask at the toy store and gave birth to a new phenomenon.

As he wrote to buzzfeed.com:
While browsing the toy aisle I saw that Batman mask and put it on just playing around. I ended up buying it and when we got in the minivan I put it on and told my wife I’m BatDad lol. I made that first vine about driving a minivan with the mask on and we just cracked up. It was so fun I just kept making them.
He started posting some short videos a couple weeks ago and now has over four million views and counting. The popularity of those simple vids not only illustrates just how funny being a parent is (with or without a mask), it also spotlights how malleable and useful these new waves of social media tech can be with the right batarang twists.
I mean, who would have thought that a comic book character, a minivan and a startled, irritated wife could teach parenting tips on potty training and good manners?
Holy Fatherhood, BatDad! Bam! Pow! Zoom!
