When last Plugged In checked in with Little Big Town, they were headed toward a ” Little White Church.” This time they’re headed out for a day on the lake. On a pontoon boat, of course.
At the church we know folks are gettin’ married. But what happens on the pontoon? Well, here’s what’s not happening: waterskiing. In the band’s vision of pontoon perfection, no one’s moving that fast. “Who said anything about skiin’?” singer Karen Fairchild asks. “Floatin’ is all I wanna do.”
OK. Skiing’s out. Floating’s in.
So what else might be happening? Grilling. We hear, “You can climb the ladder/Just don’t rock the boat while I barbecue.” Oh, sunbathing and swimming too: “Makin’ waves and catchin’ rays up on the roof/Jumpin’ out the back, don’t act like you don’t want to.”
And seeing as how this is a country song and all, it wouldn’t be complete without some drinking, would it? “Party in slow motion/Out here in the open/ … Reach your hand into the cooler/Don’t drink it if the mountains aren’t blue/Try to keep it steady as you recline on your black inner tube.”
Given a script like that, the song’s video goes exactly where you’d expect it to, as cameras on the boat and in the water document Little Big Town’s ode to a floating soiree. And it places even more emphasis on the alcohol portion of the party than the song itself does, showing almost everyone drinking various brews and mixed beverages. It also zeros in on the bikini girls—in the band and otherwise—as they either swim or languidly lie across the torsos of their shirtless beaus, soaking up the rays.
And eating barbecue.
And drinking their beers and margaritas.
And not waterskiing.
