YouTube Channel Review

With so many cooking channels on YouTube, there’s usually at least one video that’ll teach you how to make that recipe you’re craving.

But if you try to follow one on FutureCanoe, well, just don’t expect perfection.

Sure, the unnamed YouTuber makes some tasty dishes. But he’s also perfectly happy to experiment in strange ways, too—such as making “medium-rare desserts” and deep-frying unusual food items.

Of course, most of his videos include following other recipes he’s found on YouTube or online, albeit in unorthodox ways. Give him a baking dish size, for instance, and he’ll probably ignore it. Require an ingredient that he doesn’t have on hand, and he’ll wing it. In one video, his freezer doesn’t even work, causing his “ice cream bacon sandwich” to melt.

As you might expect, while some plates end up looking pretty good, not every recipe comes out looking as intended…or even appetizing. Regardless, the dishes do always come with a heavy seasoning of deadpan dry humor.

POSITIVE CONTENT

If FutureCanoe teaches you anything, it’s that you don’t always need to stick to a recipe’s exact ingredients. In many of his recipe-recreation videos, he’ll casually admit to not having an ingredient and either substitute it or not use it at all. And while this occasionally ends up being a bad decision, the final product usually appears very similar to the original recipe.

While reviewing cookbooks or products that others have made, FutureCanoe typically tries to compliment at least one aspect of the work.

FutureCanoe attempts to make recipes that his subscribers send him, too.

CONTENT CONCERNS

FutureCanoe makes many sly sexual references throughout his videos, including ones that reference masturbation, semen and orgasms. He makes the occasional joke about father abandonment, too.

The f-word and s-word are occasionally used. We also heard “a–” and “b–ch.” God’s name is used in vain.

CHANNEL SUMMARY

FutureCanoe probably isn’t the first cooking channel you’ll go to for a helpful guide on how to make a dish. Alongside You Suck At Cooking, this channel leans far more into comedy than kitchen advice. But with the crude language and sexual references, you’ll find FutureCanoe to be like many recipes that appear on the channel—far from perfect.

Kennedy Unthank

Kennedy Unthank studied journalism at the University of Missouri. He knew he wanted to write for a living when he won a contest for “best fantasy story” while in the 4th grade. What he didn’t know at the time, however, was that he was the only person to submit a story. Regardless, the seed was planted. Kennedy collects and plays board games in his free time, and he loves to talk about biblical apologetics. He thinks the ending of Lost “wasn’t that bad.”
