TV Series Review

Protect the American people. Uphold the Constitution of the United States. This is the mission of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

While the FBI has branches across the United States, this particular branch is located right in the middle of New York City and is filled with some of the best agents the FBI has.

They include engaging and personal Maggie Bell; confident Omar Zidan; dedicated leader Jubal Valentine; polished and precise Isobel Castille; quick-witted Stuart Scola and highly competent Tiffany Wallace.

But those special agents can’t do the work alone. They need whip-smart analysts, including sharp and efficient Elise Taylor and Ian Lim.

And while they all have different roles and varying responsibilities, they always work together to accomplish the tasks at hand.

After all, no matter their differences, they’re always united on one thing: to protect the American public against all threats, domestic and otherwise.

A Few Series’ Later

Law and order. It’s something we all know and rely on. And honestly, TV has relied on it, too. Police and law-enforcement procedurals have been a part of the television docket since the medium’s earliest days.

And if you’ve ever watched TV, you probably know that Law & Order is also a show that was created in the 1990s–and it’s still going. Created by Dick Wolf, the NBC show is now in its 23rd season.

Why is that relevant?

Well, the same Dick Wolf that created that extremely successful series has also created a lot of spin-offs. Sort of like the one we’re talking about right now: FBI.

No, no. It’s not FBI: International or FBI: Most Wanted.

It’s just plain ‘ol FBI.

It was created in September of 2018 and it’s currently in its 6th season on CBS. And it takes place in the same universe as Wolf’s Law & Order franchise.

The premise of each show is, really, to save the day. Or to save someone. Or save anything really.

There’s always a threat. Always a problem to be solved. Always someone that needs help to some degree.

And the FBI are there to handle it.

That means of course that, if you choose to watch this show, you’re going to be watching something with a bit of profanity (as this series is rated TV-14). Plots may revolve around topics such as rape, sexual assault, political turmoil, terrorism and all other grisly elements that make up humanity’s biggest problems. There’s also some on-screen violence and bloodshed, but nothing too extreme. (It is airing on traditional network television, after all.)

This isn’t the most well-produced show. The characters aren’t all that interesting. But if you like watching cops and agents chase bad guys, you’ll want to finish my review to the end before you give it a try.

Feb. 13, 2024–S6, E1: “All the Rage”

The FBI team attempts to apprehend a Somalian man involved in a terrorist organization, but when they fail, one of their own members is killed.

A Somali man places a backpack filled with explosives next to a bench. A homeless man grabs the backpack, gets on a bus and the entire vehicle goes up in flames, killing everyone on board. Innocent civilians scream and flee the scene. Later, bloodied body bags lie on the ground.

The FBI team discusses various elements of the terrorist group they’re chasing, comparing the group to Hamas. A few members of the terrorist group shoot and kill innocent civilians, including an FBI agent. Other agents engage in a few shootouts in order to save hostages. A terrorist plans to bomb a chapel but is caught beforehand.

People lie and express pain and frustration over politics and needless murder.

The FBI team gathers together and takes shots of hard liquor in honor of a fallen team member.

Men and women alike spout profanities such as “h—,” “a–,” “d–n” and the phrase “son of a b–ch.”
