There’s a brighter day coming on “Everything’s Not Lost,” which urges listeners not to despair or let problems drag them down. With deep devotion, “Parachutes” states, “In a haze, a stormy haze, I’ll be ‘round/I’ll be loving you always.” Several songs find the singer truly sorry for mistakes that have hurt others (“Trouble,” “Sparks” and a hidden, untitled track). The need to harness a stressful, fast-paced life is central to “High Speed.” A man patiently waits for the woman he loves to return his affection (“Shiver”). “We Never Change” says, “I wanna live life/And never be cruel/And I wanna live life/ And be good to you . . . and have friends all around.”
