Paisley puts the woman he loves on a pedestal (“The World,” “She’s Everything”), and considers “unproductive” days spent with his dad or a special lady “Time Well Wasted.” Other sweet songs testify to love’s enduring power (“Love Is Never-Ending”) and remind men patience is a virtue when they’re “Waitin’ on a Woman.” In addition to the old gospel tune “The Uncloudy Day,” the singer talks of heaven on the Dolly Parton duet “When I Get Where I’m Going” (“I’ll stand forever in the light of His amazing grace”).
“Alcohol” takes the side effects of drinking in stride as it recalls fun times under the influence, including “naked pictures of you at the beach.” Other songs mention beer, wine and Old Crow whiskey. “Out in the Parkin’ Lot” observes drunk cowboys vomiting. Paisley rubs an ex-girlfriend’s nose in his success on “Easy Money.” The spoken “Cornography” jokes about large breasts, erections, penis size, Viagra and intercourse. Bonus tracks include a bleeped profanity.
An excellent guitar player, Paisley’s licks are consistently solid. His lyrics aren’t. Randy moments and booze interfere with beautiful expressions of love, undermining any spiritual uplift. A Wasted opportunity.
