Vodcast: How Does Parenthood Change Our View of the Media?

Parenthood is full of surprises, no matter how much we try to prepare for everything before the arrival of our firstborn. One of those surprises may be the ways becoming a parent changes how we see the world. And that includes entertainment and media.

In this week’s Plugged In Vodcast, Kristin Smith, Bob Hoose and I talk about how parenthood gives us a new–and sometimes surprising–filter for the way we see images and ideas portrayed onscreen. It’s a conversation that was sparked by Kristin’s recent review of Hulu’s series The Handmaid’s Tale. (And be sure to check out Paul Asay’s blog about entering into other people’s stories, which we reference in the vodcast as well.)

Take a look, and be sure to let us know what you think.
