Plugged In Picks, Music: Imagine Dragons & J.I.D., “Enemy”

blog top 01-07 still from Enemy music video

If you’re an Imagine Dragons fan, 2021 was a pretty good year. Not only did we get new music from the band in September (the group’s fifth album, Mercury – Act 1), but October saw the arrival of another promotional single, too. Teaming up with rapper J.I.D., Imagine Dragons unleashed the song “Enemy” in conjunction with the TV show Arcane and the online arena battle game League of Legends.

As the song’s title suggests, “Enemy” is about standing up against those who would tear us down, “an appropriate sort of vibe for a video game that’s all about the last man (or team) standing,” I wrote in my review. The conflict between two unnamed combatants threatens to get more intense in a few lyrics. But for the most part, this song seeks to inspire underdogs everywhere—and it should definitely connect with Imagine Dragons and J.I.D. followers.
