Plugged In Pick, Game: Knockout City

Let’s face it, being thrust into a game of dodgeball in grade school isn’t always a happy thing. I mean, it’s a love-it-or-loathe-it kinda gym activity. There’s always that big kid (or kids) with a nasty gleam in his eye and a smirk on his face. And when his radar locks in on you, you can almost taste that ball will soon be whizzing straight at your face. If only you had gotten a growth spurt like your next-door neighbor did. Then, maybe once, you could know what it feels like to smirk.

Well, guess what, chum, digital smirks could soon be yours. Whether you’re in grade school right now or those days are a distant dim memory, you can get your ball-chucking game on with this month’s E 10+ rated Plugged In Pick: Knockout City.

Team bouts abound in all sorts of arenas—a construction yard, a train station, a city square, etc.—and strategic teamwork gives you a chance to be the dodge ball king you always dreamed of being. As our reviewer Lauren Cook noted, “In terms of gameplay, Knockout City is, quite simply, a blast. The foundational mechanics are incredibly straightforward, and the cartoonish animation and elementary-level violence make it a good fit for kids, but there’s enough room for strategy and technique to keep older players busy as well.”

So what are you waiting for? Those virtual rubber balls ain’t gonna throw themselves!
