Explore ‘The Truth About Life’ With See Life 2021

Each week at Plugged In, we spend time sifting and evaluating the images, ideas and values that inform contemporary entertainment. We want to equip you to make the best decision you possibly can regarding pop culture, media and technology. And, at the same time, we also want to equip you to develop your family’s biblical worldview when it comes to the ideas you encounter in entertainment.

For the most part, we focus on fictionalized entertainment, with a rare documentary review thrown in here and there. This week, however, we’d like to let you know about a new series of videos you’ll find on the Focus on the Family website that can help you and your family think more deeply about abortion.

Obviously, abortion is one of the most controversial, divisive issues in our culture today. And yet, at the heart of that conversation, there is an indisputable reality: In a mother’s womb, a fetus grows. And we believe each preborn child is someone who bears God’s image of incredible dignity and worth.

One of the core questions surrounding our broader culture’s abortion debate is the question of when life begins. At Focus on the Family (of which Plugged In is a part), that’s a question that we want to talk about and help you think about deeply.

In the weeks leading up to our live See Life 2021 event in Dallas on August 28, Focus wants to be a catalyst for deeper conversation. To do so, we’ll be releasing a series of videos that feature our president, Jim Daly, talking to leaders in the pro-life movement about why we believe so passionately in the value of each and every preborn baby.

This issue remains one of the most important facing our culture today. And if it’s one that you want to talk about in your family, small group or church community, this series of videos could serve as an ideal springboard.

At Plugged In, we also understand that each family needs to make its own decisions about when and how to engage with various ideas onscreen. This video series doesn’t tread into visually graphic territory. That said, it’s also impossible to talk about the reality of what abortion is—the death of a preborn child—without some terms and phrases that young children, especially, might not be ready to understand or process in a healthy way.

If you’d like to know more, you can check out the first of these videos, released just last week. It’s called “The Truth About Life,” and it digs into that foundational question: When does life begin?
