Pro-Social Content

The optimistic “Searchin’ My Soul” condemns pride and owns up to past mistakes. Establishing and maintaining loving relationships is the focus of “I Only Want to Be with You,” “You Belong to Me” and “The Wildest Times of the World.” The 1962 hit “Tell Him” reminds women that men need to feel loved and secure (“Tell him that you’re never gonna leave him . . . always gonna love him”).

Objectionable Content

One mild profanity and two passing references to alcohol use.

Summary Advisory

High-profile TV shows are a great place to showcase new musical talent. “Last year, I was lucky to draw three dozen [people to my concerts],” Vonda Shepard says. Fox’s Ally McBeal changed all that. And for the most part, it’s a good thing (the CD, not the show). Regarding the influence of television, Shepard told the L.A. Daily News, “I didn’t realize with my small amount of camera time that I would get recognized, but as the weeks went on . . . I realized just how powerful TV is.” So is music. And Vonda’s is pretty solid.
