While it may lack tact, “Stupid Girls” lampoons the tabloid exploits of celeb party girls as it urges female fans to be women of substance. The ironic “I Got Money Now” shows that wealth can’t replace close relationships. P!nk counsels and comforts the adolescent in her rearview mirror on “Conversations With My 13-Year-Old Self.” “Long Way to Happy” contains a regretful postscript to a sexual encounter (“One night to you lasted six weeks for me … No more waking up to innocence”).
Drunkenness and masturbation figure prominently on the extremely vulgar “U + Ur Hand.” Harsh profanities mar numerous other tunes as well. “Stupid Girls” repeats the f-word and may contain a reference to oral sex. P!nk sings about drinking beer while watching trashy TV on “Leave Me Alone (I’m Lonely),” which tosses expletives and abuses the Lord’s name. She lusts after “The One That Got Away,” an attached man she’ll be looking for in her “next life.” The scathingly self-righteous “Dear Mr. President” blasts George W. Bush, stumping for gay rights along the way. An ode to rebellion, “Cuz I Can” taunts, “I live a life of sin, but that’s alright/I don’t give a d–n, don’t play by your rules. I make my own”—a sad example of Judges 17:6. A blueprint for trouble finds a hopeless teen fleeing her legalistic home (“Runaway”). There’s a liner image of an obscene gesture.
At one point P!nk says, “Yeah, I talk s—. Just deal with it.” Wise families will deal with it by shooting down teens’ requests for the angry, profane I’m Not Dead.
