Album Review

Pro-Social Content

Though plagued with problems of their own, cuts do denounce hateful violence by skinheads (“13 Steps to Nowhere”) and undue leniency toward criminals (“Drag the Waters”).

Objectionable Content

Growling and screaming, this obnoxious band spews all sorts of vile sludge. Listeners are urged to solve problems with “pills that kill” and a “gun up to the mouth” on “Suicide Note (Parts 1 & 2).” A vicious verbal attack is launched against the media and the world in general on “War Nerve,” just one of many tracks punctuated with the f-word. The title assault (to call it a “song” would be much too kind) uses obscenities to condemn the alternative/punk rock movement. Elsewhere, the lead vocalist vomits forth a string of dark pleasures including oral lust, angel dust, anal whore, VD ecstasy and lesbian love. Yuck.

Summary Advisory

On this maddening disc, Pantera claims to be “in position to wage teenage mayhem.” It’s true. Keep this venomous snake in the grass far away from your home.
