“Take Me Home” glorifies sadomasochism (“throw me down, tie me up, spit in my face, kick me hard”). “Martin Scorsese” details acts of violence the singer fantasizes about inflicting upon the famous film director, including ripping off an ear, chewing off lips, sucking out an eye and kicking in his teeth. “It’s Saturday Night” inspires revolt and encourages people to “f— sh– up.” One of the most ridiculous cuts is titled “Detachable Penis,” and relates the story of a man whose genitalia are often removed and misplaced (or rented out). Unbelievably, it received radio air play as well as exposure on MTV. The band’s dark side comes through on “Ed,” “Heaven” (which is anything but), “Happy Hour” and “The Evil Children.” The warning label is well-deserved for obscenity.
Very nihilistic, this record also includes vile and anti-religious imagery. What isn’t downright nonsensical is patently offensive. Don’t take in Happy Hour.
