Pro-Social Content

With all songs written by committed believer Kerry Livgren, there’s a pervasively Christian worldview. “Not Man Big” questions man’s ability to independently solve the world’s problems. There’s no place for pride or wasted time on “When the World Was Young,” which states, “We’ll never change without until we change within.” Livgren is mindful of his legacy, hoping the choices he has made in life will count for something in “The Coming Dawn.” “Look at the Time” ponders the brevity of life. One of several indirect references to God appears on “Myriad,” a song crediting “His hand” with the wondrous beauty and order of art and mathematics. Clearer still is Livgren’s dream in which he is a light-bearer called to lead “a million hungry souls” to the gate of a promised land (“Distant Vision”).
