Album Review

Pro-Social Content

The smash single, “I Can Love You Like That,” as well as “Long As I Live,” pledge undying romantic love. The latter also recognizes that every day is a gift from God (“Til the Lord says it’s time to go with him, I’m yours as long as I live”). On “No Man’s Land,” a once-married working mother of three courageously handles the pressures of single parenthood. A high school sweetheart’s ongoing commitment earns praise on “High School Heart.” Though it fails to mention God by name, “Heaven Sent Me You” credits “someone up there” with sending a loving partner. “It’s What I Am” recalls a father’s advice (“He said work hard and let the good Lord do the rest”).

Objectionable Content

“Cowboy Love” invites a stranger to share “some southern homemade wine” and “lovemakin’.”

Summary Advisory

This self-titled project features a nice blend of bouncy backroad melodies and tender ballads. With the one noted exception, a good effort.
