Album Review

Pro-Social Content

The humorous “Good Brown Gravy” finds a man being pursued by women-and even the armed forces-for his down-home country recipe. On the verge of abandoning a relationship, the singer reconsiders and recommits on “From Here on Out.”

Objectionable Content

“Wild Blue Yonder” seeks solace in a bottle of whiskey. Though admittedly cynical, a common guy longs to be “a one-man woman juggling act” on “I’d Like to Have a Problem Like That.” “So Help Me Girl” alludes to physical intimacy without a clear relational context. Elsewhere, a lovesick man beats up another of the girl’s suitors (“Junior’s in Love”).

Summary Advisory

Much of Diffie’s latest effort treads on neutral ground. Still, Third Rock relies on a honky-tonk mentality that, occasionally, sends it rolling off course.
