Other cuts imply that it’s unhealthy to keep feelings bottled up. A man believes it’s possible to “Escape” life’s ruts, and longs to find a hiding place with the woman he loves. “Just One” has the singer preparing to seize the moment that will lead to a brighter future, however …
Some teens could misinterpret the line “I need to see if I still bleed.” A stray lyric on “What Happened to Us?” fails to account for God’s omniscience. “Same Direction” ponders faith, rejecting sound theology and concluding that all roads lead to the same “final destination.”
A fairly positive pick except for Robb’s fuzzy, relativistic spirituality. He told Rolling Stone, “My dad used to be a Presbyterian minister and I was brought up with this Christian, ‘we are right’ mentality. … I’m just not down with that lack of respect for other people’s beliefs.” It’s possible to be both respectful and dogmatic. Some pro-social themes here, but fans seeking Truth won’t find it.
