Delightful celebrations of life abound. Des’ree exalts virtues such as honesty, bravery and steadfastness (“I Ain’t Movin'”), truth and justice (“Herald the Day”), caring, sharing and loving (“Living in the City”) and heeding parental wisdom (“You Gotta Be”). “Little Child” laments world hunger, recommending prayer as a remedy. “Trip on Love” applauds parental affection. Though vague, “Love Is Here” may point to God as the author of love.
Just a line in “Strong Enough” (“Never criticize, keep an open mind”) that could lead to moral compromise.
A pleasant, soulful collection that’s lyrically encouraging. If this disc truly represents Des’ree’s artistic stand, let’s hope she really ain’t movin’.
