Song titles such as “Hits from the Bong,” “I Wanna Get High” and “Legalize It” provide some indication of the group’s pro-drug agenda. Lines from these cuts include, “I smoke s— straight off the roach clip,” “Inhale, exhale/Just got an ounce in the mail/I like the blunt” and “I take hits from the bong . . . I love you Mary Jane [slang for marijuana].” A deplorable twisting of Scripture finds Genesis 1:12 being used to justify recreational drug use (“Legalize It”). The artist gets violently protective of his stash on “A to the K,” “What Go Around Come Around Kid” and “Insane in the Brain.” Gunplay and murder even includes a cop-killing (“When the S— Goes Down”). Profanities and obscenities inhabit numerous tracks, while a vulgar sexual epithet characterizes the trouble with “Lil Putos.”

Summary Advisory

This disc has the distinction of being the first rap album to spend multiple weeks at number 1 on the pop chart. Its appeal? An evangelistic zeal for drugs and the glorification of gangsta violence.
