Album Review

Pro-Social Content

While not thematically “Christian,” the band frequently makes use of biblical imagery and vocabulary in optimistic songs such as “Precious Declaration” (“I was blind, but now I see/Salvation has discovered me”). Lyrics elevate faith, peace, forgiveness, truth, calm and love while rebuking selfishness, despair, fear, greed, pride and aimless meandering through life. “Giving” and “Everything” sound very much like prayers for noble character traits. “Blame” offers redemption to someone “tasting sin and swallowing pain.” Written in memory of a deceased friend, “Maybe” speaks of the joy of heaven and the sorrow experienced by those on earth following a loss.

Objectionable Content

The title cut relates a man’s tortured slide toward a welcome collapse.

Summary Advisory

One band member said, “These songs allow themselves to be read in many different contexts.” With the noted exception, they should uplift Christian teens hearing them through the filter of biblical Truth.
