Lightweight songs convey a love of life and the thrill of discovering that boys don’t really have cooties (“C’est La Vie,” “Like the Rose,” “Rev It Up,” “To You I Belong”). Lyrical statements range from the flutter of romantic optimism (“Castles in the Air”) to working through the emotions associated with a breakup (“Oh, Mr. Postman,” “Blame It on the Weatherman,” “Never Giving Up”).
Not much. A few ambiguous lines may contain veiled sexual references. On the boastful “Freak Out,” the girls admit, “We’re so friendly to the better looking guys/Watching ’em wiggle in front of our eyes.”
Ranging in age from 18 to 20, these denim-clad tomboys from Dublin, Ireland, have a Spice Girls vibe-heavily produced pop, layered harmonies and a free-spirited pose suggesting a wild side not quite as innocent as their music makes them sound. Time will tell. As for the messages on B*witched, only minor caveats interrupt the group’s heavy dose of positivity.
