Album Review

Pro-Social Content

The Rejects want to give romance a second shot on “11:11 PM” (“It’s a chance to fix mistakes”). Similarly optimistic, “Move Along” calls for perseverance during hard times (“Even when your hope is gone, move along/Move along just to make it through”), and “Change Your Mind” offers support if the person in pain would just stay (“No words to say/I’ll give you mine and pocket all the hurt”). The singer warns someone to resist greed (“Top of the World”) and has the sense to flee destructive dating relationships (“I’m Waiting,” “It Ends Tonight,” “Straitjacket Feeling”).

Objectionable Content

The vague “Dance Inside” could be as innocuous as two people dancing or as sensual as a sexual metaphor.

Summary Advisory

While not as unequivocally positive as the group’s self-titled debut, any problems here are minor and open to interpretation. Again, lots of breakup songs. Not bad as punk/emo acts go, but it sure would be nice to hear about the positive goings-on in their lives for a change.
