On “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning),” the singer copes with a painful breakup by reflecting fondly on the time he and his lady shared. “Send It Up” describes the comfort and security found in a special person. Other songs seek relational reassurance (“All of You,” “Give You Back”) and answers to life’s questions (“We Are”). “Miracle” dreams of overcoming loneliness. After being rejected on “Shackled,” a man asserts, “I don’t need you to keep my faith alive,” however . . .
That track and others exploring lost love often show a mournful, pessimistic side (“Leave me alone to die”). On “You’re a God,” truthfulness appears unnecessary (“We’re covered in lies and that’s okay”).
Keith Kane, Matt Scannell, Ed Toth and Sean Hurley make up this band which boasts an oxymoronic name and, at times, equally cryptic messages. For the most part, the vague lyrics avoid objectionable elements. Still, this electric quartet vacillates from confidence to agony when dealing with heartache.
