Pro-Social Content

The artist speaks love to a stabilizing influence in his life on “Lonely Road of Faith” and states, “God is great indeed.” One line on the otherwise awful “Drunk in the Morning” suggests that wealth won’t solve all of life’s problems and can actually create new ones.

Objectionable Content

Before teens hear a single note, they get assaulted by a photo of two extended middle fingers on the disc itself. That sets the tone for Cocky’s content. The f-word appears throughout. Nine tracks glamorize alcohol (beer, Jim Beam, cheap wine, King Louie) and/or drugs (cocaine, marijuana, Ecstasy), usually in excess. In fact, Kid Rock boasts, “Been fuelin’ up on cocaine and whiskey” (“Picture”) and “I met the president when I was half-stoned” (“You Never Met a Muthaf—er Quite Like Me”). Graphic sexual references describe his rutting passion for anything with a pulse (“Lay It on Me,” “Picture,” “WCSR: Working Class Sex Rhymes,” “Cocky,” “What I Learned Out on the Road”), more specifically b–ches, strippers, models, his maids and “big corn-fed midwestern hos.” There are also cases of bad theology, misguided patriotism and arrogant posturing.

Summary Advisory

Snoop Dogg, Sheryl Crow and Uncle Kracker have cameos on this hideous project full of rampant obscenity, substance abuse and predatory sex. On one cut Kid Rock says, “You can save your children from a world of bulls—.” Outlawing this CD would be a good start.
