The lead singer endeavors not to hate those who’ve wronged him on “My Enemies.” He looks for good amid repulsiveness (“All of This Ugly”) and warns us not to stick a fork in a plugged-in toaster or lick cold metal things (“There Are Many Dangers”).
CTD’s nonsensical poetry has its problems. Though not blasphemous, “An Old Scab” and “Overachievers” could be interpreted as making light of prayer. There’s also a metaphorical reference to sex and an immodest testimony regarding the use of a bidet.
The operative word is “weird.” Again, the Dummies use cryptic silliness as bait to hook music buyers in a sea of musical soundalikes. A Worm’s Life avoids patently offensive content, but rampant ambiguity and a few questionable lines may inspire families to fish elsewhere.
