A woman’s love inspires men to be trusting (the Rob Zombie/Drowning Pool collaboration “The Man Without Fear”), see a purpose in life (Saliva’s “Bleed for Me”) and be heroically faithful (“For You” by The Calling). On “Raise Your Rifles,” Autopilot Off views trials and scars as critical components of a person’s character, and doesn’t let the opinions of others mean too much. In love with a lady, the band Revis is willing to do “whatever it takes for you to stay with me” (“Caught in the Rain”). Taking calculated risks in life is preferable to doing nothing on Hoobastank’s “Right Before Your Eyes.” “Right Now” longs for heroes who will stand for something and “save the world”…
Unfortunately, that song by Nappy Roots includes profanities, alcohol use and a vague reference to wholesale annihilation (“I’m pushin’ the button and the whole [bleep] game is through/All of a sudden there’s mushroom clouds”). Consumed with vengeance, Fuel shouts, “I will not bow/I’ve come to bring you hell/I can’t forget the things you did” (“Won’t Back Down”). Nickelback propositions a woman sexually on “Learn the Hard Way.”
Various artists—including 12 Stones, Moby and Evanescence—contributed to this CD, which was inspired by Daredevil, the PG-13 film about a blind comic- book superhero. This collection is better than families might expect, but not as strong as most would hope.
