AN AUDIO SNAPSHOT REVIEW
In Truth Be Told, Annie is a marriage and family therapist who’s never been married—but she still knows her stuff. In fact, she’s so good she wows wealthy media mogul Alexander Bishop, who offers her her own talk radio show. There’s just one big catch: Through coincidence, he thinks she’s married to Mark, who heads a struggling youth center. So when Bishop invites Annie and her “family” to spend a weekend with him at his ranch in New Mexico, Annie’s got a dilemma. Should she tell the truth and possibly lose her dream job? Or should she and Mark lie so she gets the show and the funding that would save Mark’s after-school program?
Annie and Mark choose to lie—and they include Mark’s kids in their deception. After all, they think they’ll always have a chance to explain the misunderstanding to Bishop after they’ve talked shop and settled their business matters. But telling the truth becomes harder than they thought, and they dig themselves deeper and deeper into a hole.
Truth Be Told is the fifth made-for-TV Family Movie Night from Walmart and Procter & Gamble. This romantic dramedy emphasizes honesty, healthy marriages, healing for blended families and being open to love even when it’s frightening. On the downside? For some, the film might not portray the consequences of dishonesty strongly enough, since Bishop realizes his own mistakes and backs down on his threats to kill the radio show deal. Overall, though, the film is wholesome programming the whole family can enjoy.
