TV Series Review

When the original Mickey Mouse Clubhouse ended in 2016, most observers assumed that was that for the popular kid’s show.

Turns out, Disney just had to say the magic words, “Meeska, Mooska, Mickey Mouse!” and a brand-new series popped right on up with a “+” symbol attached to the end of it.

Those familiar with the original series will find Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+ to be, more or less, a continuation of that show: The introduction is the same, the episodic plot beats are the same, and each episode even ends with the famous Hot Dog Dance. It seems the only major changes are the introductions of a character or two, the creation of new clubhouses for other members of the show beyond Mickey and an animation overhaul.

The upshot for families? Aside from the reference to magic words or a scientific device that briefly turns one character into a baby, there’s little to be concerned about here in the early going of this series’ continuation.

July 22, 2025 – S1, E1: “Mickey’s New Helper”

Mickey’s friend, Professor Von Drake, has a surprise for Mickey: the Von Drake Little Helper. But things quickly go awry when Little Helper flies away on a runaway balloon.

Magical sparkles and “saying the magic words” to cause the clubhouse to appear are the only things of note in this episode.

Kennedy Unthank studied journalism at the University of Missouri. He knew he wanted to write for a living when he won a contest for “best fantasy story” while in the 4th grade. What he didn’t know at the time, however, was that he was the only person to submit a story. Regardless, the seed was planted. Kennedy collects and plays board games in his free time, and he loves to talk about biblical apologetics. He’s also an avid cook. He thinks the ending of Lost “wasn’t that bad.”
