Album Review

Pro-Social Content

A bouncy remake of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” (also on the Lilo & Stitch soundtrack) is one of several innocuous songs about the prospect of new romance (“Singled Out,” “In the Blink of an Eye,” “Let Your Heart Do All the Talking”). “Cross My Heart” pledges lasting devotion. Stronger and wiser, the singer is “Closer to Perfection” thanks to lessons learned following a breakup. Flush with optimism, “This Year” looks to make the most of the next 12 months, which includes having fun, painting a masterpiece and reaching a personal pinnacle.

Objectionable Content

Minor. A subtle nod to pop astrology mars “This Year” (“All the planets are lining up for me”).;While it’s natural for kids to welcome summer vacation, a remake of Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out” goes so far as to say, “We might not come back at all . . . School’s out completely.”

Summary Advisory

Having shared the stage with ‘N Sync and Britney Spears, A*Teens have developed a loyal following. Despite a few lyrical hiccups, their third disc is a winner.
