YouTuber sWooZie focuses on three main topics on his channel: God, girls and gaming. With a passion for anime and a knack for storytelling, sWooZie, also known as influencer Adande Thorne, tells stories he’s accumulated over the course of his life, accompanied by his own animations.
sWooZie was born in Trinidad, but his family moved to the United States while he was a child. He first discovered a passion for drawing and animation when, as a young boy, became fascinated by how a girl had drawn one of his action figures. He attended a private Christian middle school, but he soon transferred to a public high school with more lax clothing standards. This allowed him to frequently wear Nike clothing, earning him the nickname “Swoosh” which later morphed into “sWooZie.”
sWooZie has more than 7 million subscribers now, and through the years of growing that fanbase, he’s accumulated a lot of life stories. He’s worked at Disney, interviewed Barack Obama, gone on plenty of dates and more—and he’s primed to share all of it…for better or for worse.
sWooZie gives a lot of relationship advice. In particular, he frequently warns people to look out for various red flags that someone may not be the best person to begin dating. With each of these warnings, he typically provides an anecdotal example of a similar thing that happened to him. He reminds his viewers that relationships need to be built on trust and grace.
In addition, sWooZie very occasionally mentions being a Christian and his faith in Jesus (though this is more frequent in his older videos than his newer ones). His relatable and friendly attitude helps to expose non-believing viewers to Christianity.
sWooZie has a lot of relationship advice to give, and he isn’t afraid to get into the more sensual details. Though sWooZie has mentioned wanting to wait until marriage in an older video, he references instances of him seeing women in their underwear, passionately kissing girls whether or not he’s dating them and spending the night with women. Additionally, many of his videos animate sensual images and talk about sex, pornography and other things related to sex. These references have become increasingly more common.
Other life stories that sWooZie shares include him unknowingly eating marijuana candy, going onto sexual chat rooms as a child and stealing things in a store or cheating in class. In other stories, sWooZie references drinking. Additionally, sWooZie occasionally misuses God’s name.
Though sWooZie often provides good tips when it comes to relationships, he often does so by referencing his own anecdotal experiences that may be too sensual for some viewers. With frequent stories and videos regarding red flag friends and relationships sWooZie has had to deal with though, it does call into question whether or not he follows his own advice.
Kennedy Unthank studied journalism at the University of Missouri. He knew he wanted to write for a living when he won a contest for “best fantasy story” while in the 4th grade. What he didn’t know at the time, however, was that he was the only person to submit a story. Regardless, the seed was planted. Kennedy collects and plays board games in his free time, and he loves to talk about biblical apologetics. He thinks the ending of Lost “wasn’t that bad.”
