TV Series Review

Choo, Choo! Here comes the much beloved, ubiquitous Thomas the Tank Engine in his latest series, Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go!

This time around, Thomas and his friends are junior tank engines living on their familiar Island of Sodor, learning the ups and downs of what it takes to be the best train you can be when you grow up. There’s Thomas, of course, still as blue and determined as ever. Then there’s Diesel, always competing with Thomas for a shot at being number one. Percy, one of Thomas’ closest friends, is trusty and true. Sandy is a kind rail speeder and Carly is a helpful, yellow crane engine.

Together, these pals chug along with one another as they learn that becoming a good engine is always worth the hard work.

Thomas the Trusty Train

This new, animated television show–originally based on a series of books by Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher–takes an original turn from the beloved 1980s British series, Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends, by Britt Allcroft.

In this iteration found on Cartoon Network, there’s no narration. Thomas and his friends are kids and the lessons they learn range from hard work and determination to integrity and the importance of character. A few engines have to learn some lessons the hard way, but as your littles watch they will likely be challenged to do the right thing as they laugh and sing along to original songs that, so far, promote solid morals.
