Flicka 2

AN AUDIO SNAPSHOT REVIEW

In this sequel, Carrie McLaughlin is a free spirited teen who's used to lots of independence as she skateboards around the city streets of Pittsburg. But that all changes when her aging grandmother is hit with Alzheimer's and the urban girl must move to Wyoming to live on a horse ranch with her estranged father. Carrie is none too happy with the change, to say the least, and feels as fenced in as all the animals around her. And Dad isn't sure how to connect with this wild mustang of a girl, either.

That awkward tug and pull improves, however, when Carrie finds a kindred spirit in Flicka—a beautiful, jet-black horse that's just as strong-willed as she is. The two form a special bond and Carrie starts to soften to the new world she's a part of. There's even a handsome young ranch hand who tips his cowboy hat and catches her eye. But when a jealous neighbor girl puts Flicka's life in jeopardy, Carrie must do whatever it takes to save her new best friend.

This direct-to-DVD movie is an involving country adventure that explores the shaping of committed relationships and the sometimes difficult transitions of life. There's definitely plenty of rebellion against parental authority on display. But dad and daughter eventually find the love and self-sacrifice that makes a family work.
