My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way will see his graphic novel The Umbrella Academy on the big screen in the somewhat-near future. Reports indicate that Universal has put the Way-penned comic on the fast-track to production. Way and Dark Horse owner Mike Richardson have reportedly already signed off on the deal, with producer Scott Stuber overseeing the “cool and sexy” project. In October, Children of Men director Alfonso Cuaron was rumored to be interested in helming the film, but no director has been announced as yet. While we eagerly await finding out which CW stars will fill what roles, My Chemical Romance will be busy contributing a Bob Dylan cover to the soundtrack of another upcoming graphic novel film, Watchmen.
